Beautiful wine, big ripe black fruit. Only problem with this wine was drinking side-by-side the 2019 Macdonald. Given it was open on it's own, I'd likely give a slightly higher score. Pronounced nose, with Black Current and Blackberry. Some Red fruit on the palate and pleasant. Full body with a long finish. Great wine for a great night.

Early for sure but had a reason to celebrate. Black/ blue fruit. Thick and velvety with lots of spice and minerals. Tannins were evident but really enjoyed this bottle. Nothing really overpowering. Balanced. 4 hour decant. 97+

This is the lone valley floor wine in the offering – Tench vineyard in Eastern Oakville. Strangely, it was the tightest wine of the night as well, really clamped down with tannin, although it did start to open some by the end of the evening. The nose was expressive with typical notes of crème de cassis, violets, blackberries and forest floor. Super full bodied, the powerful tannins hem in the fruit quite a bit, but you can really get a sense that this will be a fabulous wine once they recede some. The fruit is focused, pure and super high quality. It’s got a gravitas that has always made this the Fairchild wine I lean towards when purchasing. I am not sure if it will get to the level of the 2016, but it certainly has the potential.
