Australian red wine from Barossa: Shiraz. Aged for 18 months in some new but predominantly older French Oak Barriques. 14,5 % alcohol.
Slow oxed for 8 hours.
Ruby red color.
Powerful and fruity aromas of Blackcurrant jam, blackberries, tobacco, licorice, black olives and nutmeg. Round flavors of Blueberry jam, sour cherries, Rowan berries, tobacco, licorice and butter.
Dry. Medium body. Medium- acidity. Chewy tannins. Some balance. Some structure. No complexity.
Short finish with blueberries, Rowan berries and butter.
A drinkable but simple red wine without any depth. Works good with (and in) food (Beef Cheeks) but is very blunt on its own. 81/100

Deep red. Nose still subdued. Black cherry flavours though also subdued. Needs several years to open up. I bought as a quaffer but it isn’t. Made from 100yo vines in a careful manner.

Interesting wine. Started like a young red which showed its credentials after an hour in the decanter. Opened early and triple decanted with aerator which is a necessity with this wine. Rose on the nose. Deep red colour. Tannins not overpowering as I thought they might be with such a young wine. Great wine but the trick is to keep for at least 5 years before I open the next bottle. Had with BBQ Rib Eye steak. Advertised on Vivino at $30 available at Nicks Wine Merchants at $20.

Spicy red/black fruit nose. Palate is quite closed and expresses strong black fruit/blackstrap characters. I find it unpleasant at this point; however, I expect 2 or so years will allow it to soften and open up.

Singapore airlines lounge. Quite fresh for an Aus Shiraz. Easy drinking but without much complexity or depth
