Relatively dark brown colour; volatile and spirity on the nose, not really giving much beyond this, a little brown sugar, Christmas cake, spice; full flavour, quite explosive on the palate, a little raw and brutal. Not showing the balance of the white - alcohol & sugar quite pronounced on this, age appears to have defeated the balance. Almost leaves a throbbing quality in the throat due to the alcohol. Not much pleasure here. A shame.

Brown with strong yellow tinge and clear. Lots of sediment. Eucalyptus and spice on the nose. Orange peel, lemon, kind of a strong sweet taste on the finish with a funkiness that I can't describe. Starting to lose its fruit. I have had this before and it rated much higher than this bottle did. Still a nice old tawny, just not as good as it has been.

C.N. Kopke was founded in 1638 by a German family of the same name and is the oldest of the Port export houses. This masterclass was organized as part of their 375th year celebrations. This particular vintage comes exclusively from the 580 liter oak barrel that had been resting in Kopke House for 73 years before being bottled.
Mid amber with a yellow rim. Compelling nose featuring intense walnutty aromas layered with caramel and toffee. Enticing palate with a delicate poise. Rich and layered flavours have a perfect harmony with the marked acidity and the sweetness. Just amazing.
