  • Olive tapanade, bacon grease, black licorice, ripe black currants, ripe dark plums, garrigue on the nose. Almost a hint of brett/funk too. It definitely smells fruit backward, with a medium + intensity of aromas. The palate is more primary. It starts with a bubble gum flavor that almost suggests carbonic maceration but then transitions to some ripe fruits dark fruits (consistent with the aromas but adding blackberries), as well as dust. Medium + intensity of flavors. The finish is impressively long for a 4 year old wine. It lingers for a whole minute.

Medium + body with medium acid and medium - tannin. LOVE the long finish on this. In a good place now, and will continue to drink well for 5-7 more years.

  • Big, full, and impressive. Blackberry, meat, leather, green olive and licorice. Although a Rhone lover, this was my first Cairanne. It won't be my last.
