  • Agreed with the last review - a little hot and oaky for ABC. Though if you only evaluate the nose, it's pretty textbook PN to my palate. Ultra ripe cranberry, ripe strawberry, ripe red cherries, dried leaves mixed with a lot of smoke and cedar. Medium + intensity of aromas. Probably about a 75%/25% ratio of primary to secondary aromas. The palate adds white pepper, crushed red pepper, juniper berries, finishing with an explosion of secondary flavors: vanilla, smoke and cedar. The ratio of fruit to oak is more like 50/50 on the palate. Texturally linear.

Medium body, medium acid. Young, hot and punchy at this stage. Still developing. Hold for 2-3 years and see if it settles down. Right now, some air does mellow it out a bit.

  • From 75cl, opened 5 hours in ABC tasting room, Santa Barbara. Pale colour. The nose promises bright cherry with a sharp edge and a touch of barnyard/(brett?) Slender cranberry-fruited entry; astringent, gently tannic mid-palate; dry, mouth-puckering finish. Restrained, attractive PN. $35 cellar door. 88-89P (but knowing ABC there well may be a substantial upside in the next decade).

  • low depth of color, ruby rim. on the nose very bright red fruits, cherry, raspberry... baking spice aromas consistent with new french oak use, floral, no cola or overripe notes. on the palate high acids, a lot of new world pinot fleshy midpalate, finishes with a moderate amount of well integrated oak tannins and moderate alcohol. balanced wine with good length, excellent intensity, ok complexity. wine has finesse, a fine texture, very expressive of place... easy to enjoy friendly. a really nice NW pinot for the price... it may develop some added complexity over the next 1-3 years, but drinks well now.

  • Clearly has potential but still locked up and taut. Slight bitter note. Give it at least another year or two.
