Is it supposed to be this good? Beautiful cab franc - great nose - honey, leather, fig, dark ripe fruit. I tried the 2016 and decided to try the 2017 at a restaurant. 2017 blows 2016 away. But they seem to be two different wines.

Gambero Rosso Tasting (Doltone House, Sydney): Black and red currant, cream, vanilla. Medium plus intensity acidity, chewy tannins, black hued fruits, sweet oak is quite off putting and, combined with alcohol, creates the illusion of residual sugar. Nah

Amazing and memorable find. When the cork popped, all four of us at the table said something similar to "Wow, look at the color!" It was a deep purple-black, nearly opaque, and the aromas of black fruits started rolling out of the glasses. From the first sip to the evolving final quaff an hour later, the wine offered up classic Cab Franc flavors to rival the best of the breed (in California, that would be Paradigm, Pride Mountain, Peju Provence and the rest of top-tier versions of the grape. This might be the best we've had, and that's saying a lot. Classic black currant, notes of green herbs (appropriately balanced), background spices, just the right dose of tannin and acidity, all in perfect balance. And this wine is from Tuscany, Sienna region of Italy. Who knew? Needless to say, this goes on the "see it, buy it" list. We were still talking about it as we headed home in the car 3 hours later. A truly amazing find.

Fantastic on the nose. Lively plum and huckleberry combined with that classic old world smell. Decant for 90min to smooth it out. A real treat.
