  • 13% Clear pale ruby with pronounced and thrilling spiced red fruited aromas, perhaps slightly candied and over-ripe, but so agreeable...the palate confirms the nose with smooth fine tannins, medium acidity, yet it's light and delicate with little body and structure, with a medium finish. the back-palate is my only complaint - it is ever so slightly metallic in character. Otherwise - overall, an excellent drink in a great spot right now -- DRINK UP! Dare I say - gulpable. There is no sign of drying fruit, but it's so good now -- why wait?

  • I fell in love with this last Christmas. Intending just to try a bottle, it was so good that three were emptied that day. On a number of occasions in the interim this wine has provided similar amounts of strawberry-infused, fresh and bracingly acidic pleasure. The most recent couple of bottles seem to be trailing off a bit though, losing some of their verve. A function of the grape? The plastic cork? A particular batch? No matter--this is the one that put Pineau d'Aunis on my radar screen and for that I am very thankful.

  • Louis/Dressner delivers again with this interesting and strange and not un-delicious wine. Upon opening this wine was a cornucopia of barnyard smells - you name it and it wafted out of the bottle. About 10 minutes in the decanter cleared that up and the wine started out with cherry and tobacco dominating the pallet - went through a variety of changes - raspberry, strawberry, tobacco, pine needles and eventually landed on a delicious combination of pine resin, candy-cherry and, tobacco. Suggest 30 minutes in decanter as optimum. This wine has a fascinating, purple/red/brown color - hard to describe, really. I think a lot of people would find this to be a strange wine - but fans of cru beaujolais and loire cab franc will probably find this enjoyable. I certainly did. I wish we were making these kinds of wines here in the US.

  • Nose of pine resin, candied/overripe strawberry, clay/dirt, and freshly ground black pepper. There is a bruised, compost-y fruit component i find very offputting, that only dissipates somewhat with time. Medium (-) acidity and stalky tannins. I find this a little flabby and acid-shy for the slight sweetness here. There is a nice, pure sweet red fruit component struggling to emerge from beneath all the weird pineau d'aunis agave/pine needle/vegetal flavors, but after trying this on consecutive nights it's just not doing it for me. Which makes me 1 for 3 so far with this variety. Fake cork.
