We took this to the house of friends who don't drink much white wine other than Prosecco, and they didn't like it at all. One objected to the reductive bitterness, another objected to the sulfurous note, and the third had a more all-encompassing dislike (though he was more open to the wine later in the evening). My wife was initially intrigued -- she said the wine evoked a rocky stream through a flowering pear orchard -- but she is not generally a fan of Sauvignon Blanc, and so I had most of the rest of the bottle to myself, and I was content. It has the usual Vie di Romans intensity, with the aforementioned reduction and sulphur, flavors of pear and passion fruit, and a spikiness that diminishes with air. I think it will improve for the next couple of years, with some softer fruit emerging, but I wouldn't push it too far. If you don't want the spiky intensity, you should open a different bottle.

Very aromatic. Pear, stone fruit, lemon, passion fruit. Pleasant minerality on the palate. Some honey. Medium+ intensity, body and finish.
