Deep ruby to brick red. Medium intensity aroma of various red fruits, almost juicy on the nose. Earth is prominent. Rather tannic, but good balance on the palate. Juicy and young. Medium length. Pleasant to drink.

Tasted blind - medium ruby, brownish tinge, clear throughout. Nose of spice, sour cherries, some earthiness, green herbaceous notes as well as some sweet smoke. Flavours of red fruits, tobacco and spice. Medium body, medium to high acidity, low to medium fine tannins, medium finish. Tart mouth fell. Good.

Decent enough Sangiovese blend that once was a bigger deal then it is now. Quite a bit of oak on the nose, but with some leather and forest floor...very "earthy" in that distinctive Italian way. red fruit on the front end with some bitter cherry pit, and very little of a finish. I am going to bet this wine is much improved tomorrow, so will try the remaining half and edit this note.
Day 2: Hunch was correct. A much more enjoyable wine with more depth and complexity showing through. The wood has burned off and there is a lovely forest floor, some mushroom, and a little leather on the nose. Underneath the distinctive cherry aroma is just the faintest watermelon jolly rancher, a real nice touch. Still only a minimal finish, but the mouthfeel is very nice and the fruit and herb come through. This would be lovely with simple grilled veal chops or seasoned duck breast.
