  • PNP and consumed over a three days. This wine kept getting better with each approach. As mentioned by other CT'ers this 50/50 blend has a medium++ body. Palomino reminds me of Viognier which I more familiar with.

A recent Kokerboom might be more my palate today but the Skerpioen grew on me by day three.

  • This is a one cool field blend I have never tried before, but gladly would taste it again and again. 80+ year old Chenin Blanc and Palomino (50/50%). Pressed whole bunches, aged on its lees for 12 months in old acacia and oak barrels. Pale lemon colour. Medium+ intensity complex aroma of smoke, honey blossom, lemon, almonds, mineral flinty and iodine notes, grassy touch. Medium+ body, well structured and so pleasantly saline with oyster shell minerality and citrus fruit freshness, medium+ acidity, nutty finish.

  • Chenin Blanc-Palomino blend. The two come together nicely in a rich, creamy-textured wine.

  • Eben Sadie Online Tasting. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, yellow lemon colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, tight medium intensity, on swirling aromas of yellow floers, ripe yellow fruit, rocky stones minerality, touch of hot oil and cream. Developing.
On the palate, dry, lovely high acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of taut ripe yellow fruits - yellow apple, yellow peach, ripe citrus lemon, hot oil + rocky stones minerality. Textured cream going into the long focused finish.
Very good quality. Lots of acid tension combined with the textured body. Richness and bite increases with more air. Really needs a lot more time to unravel.
50% Chenin Blanc and 50% Palomino.

  • Focused with citrus fruit, and a tight body. Will probably flesh out with cellaring.Classy, but young and not ready for business. 92+
