A friend brought this to a blind tasting and unfortunately it was gone. I had this wine three months ago and it was still showing very well. The lottery of old bottles of wine unfortunately.....

Ruby colour. Restrained nose of black fruits and dusty books. The palate is is refined and medium bodied with some fading blackberry fruit and a savoury, umami note, black olive and long, tangy finish. Lovely wine if you like fully mature old bottles, it's subtle.

Popped and poured in Copake with meatloaf dinner. Herbal notes on the nose, along wtih pepper and some perfume. Full-bodied, rich and quite a mouthful. Even on the viscous, oily side. The wine is in a primarily tertiary stage, with lots of minerals, pepper and smoke. Fruit is pretty much an after-thought now. A bit past its prime but still enjoyable.

Ruby and tawny with black olives, furniture polish. The palate is silky with black olive, umami, marmite and that furniture polish finish. Interesting, probably past its best but enjoyable nonetheless.

Sadly, had turned to vinegar/oxidised, smelled like Madeira
