I am a big fan of Pegau’s reds, and this is the first white from them I have had, I believe. There are some things I like here, like the saltiness and herb, but the wine seems disjointed, out of balance and overall, neither of us really enjoyed it.

French road trip, mainly Rhône valley; 9/4/2022-9/18/2022: From open 75cl at Domaine Pegau tasting room, Châteauneuf du Pape. Closed, neutral, „stony-steely” scent with a whiff of sulphur. Light-bodied, “watery” entry, remakably neutral; on the mid-palate there is some astringency, but fruit, acidity and texture all seem to be on vacation today. Disappointingly thin and featureless after the 2020 tasted yesterday. 12,5% alc. declared. 12 EUR at cellar door. Possibly better next year, but perhaps just another disappointing 2021 CdR? 86P

Light nose with apricot, slightly lanolin and peanuts(?). nicely bright and acidic with stone fruits. A bit perry and nice succulence. Good balance and some mineral on the finish. Persistence and holds the bead. A little perception of sweetness on the finish.

Excellent rapport qualité-prix. Pégau Cuvée Lône c'est toujours bien fait.
