  • A cuvée of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault from high altitude clayey (argile) vineyards with a yield of 15 hl/ha, hand-picked, 75% destemmed, fermented for ten days and aged for 24 months in concrete and enamel tanks. Philippe Gimel gives the wine 15 years.

Crimson red with a slightly lightening rim

The 2020 L'Argile is a powerful dark wine reminiscent of plum, cherry and blackberry juice, some sloe, dried wood, dark tobacco and crushed stone. There is also some smoked meat, sweet Indian spices and a top note of violets.

On the palate, the cuvée initially appears round and soft with warm dark and fleshy fruit notes. It has power and breadth. But then it focuses more and more, becomes firmer and offers increasingly more tannin. The juicy black fruit becomes transparent, is penetrated by a ripe acidity and a certain minerality. At the same time, the warmth, the extract sweetness as well as the rondeur of southern wines always remain present.
