At this point I’m convinced that Ben Christiansen has tried every bottle on the planet, given how often his name pops up.
But anyways, can’t say I completely understand the comments as I found this to be perfectly delightful Bandol and with all the savory, meaty aromas one can expect from good Mourvèdre.
Somewhat immature, but still complex nose full of spiced blackberry, black tea, mint, green olive, savory cedar and a healthy dose of cured meat and leather. The green olive note upon popping the cork seemed suggestive of stem-inclusion but the smell dissipated over a long decant.
The palate is perfectly rich for lovers of hearty, full-bodied tannin while maintaining a light skiff of complimentary acidity.
Beautiful with a gamey stew, and fairly good value for the quality to my mind.

Such a fun holiday wine. Heavy rendering on the palette.
