  • Was a perfect pairing with Bob's smoked ribs and BBQ sauce. A very nice Mourvèdre driven GSM blend. Drinking great now, and should for at least several more years.

  • Popped and poured. Excellent bottle of wine; the first time I have opened a Panoplie that I cellared from delivery to drinking. Excellent dark, though not quite opaque, ruby color. Nose is still amazingly primary, with nicely restrained raspberry jam. Lovely fruit in the mouth, red-blue fruit, very smooth but richly textured and still retaining some chewy tannin. This has a real presence and staying power about it. Easy to see why this is considered Tablas' flagship wine. Time has really blessed this wine with added dimension not so apparent in Panoplies when young. 4-13-17-9: 93/100. (I may be a point low here; I wouldn't quibble with those who rate higher.)

Next day: Such a meaty wine. I did underrate the palate. Up a point, for a new total of 94.

  • Decanted 1.5 hr. Drank over 2 days. Day 2 was not as vivid as day 1 (it seemed flatter). Great nose. Tastes of dark fruits, meat and chocolate. Did not get the chocolate on day2. Day 1 was the best Panoplie we've tasted so far.

  • Still youthful but getting more complex. Intense, meaty dark wine drenched in blackberry fruit, Christmas Tree fragrances, and supple tannins. Long, silky finish with bright, resonating flavors. Solidly built (tannin, acidity, core of fruit) for the cellar.

Consumed together with a 2013 CndP Chapelle St. Theodoric, mostly Grenache. Fine contrast of unfunky and elegant red-fruited CndP and brooding, flavor-bomb Cali Rhone Ranger.

  • Like other more recent reviews, wine was okay but certainly expected more. Wine a little flat, some nice spicy notes but just hasn’t come together.
