This tastes like it came from an upscale Bordeaux chateau and is 10 years older than it actually is. A nose of red and black cherry and blueberry with notes of baking spices and pencil shavings. There are elements of caramel, dark chocolate and layered dark fruit on the palate. It’s fresh and creamy, eminently drinkable now and suitable for cellaring. Decanted for 2 hours, served at 65 degrees.

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (J&S’s): Double blind. Dark color with aromas of black fruit, currants and pepper with a meaty undertone. Full-bodied, with flavors of black fruit and pepper carrying the lengthy finish. Plush tannins; good presence across the palate.
Seemed more like a nice domestic syrah than Bordeaux-style blend, but still a very nice wine with lovely dark fruit. No need to rush on these. (J&T)

Very approachable pop and pour. Lots of fruit but not cloying. Tannins are mild.
