Thanks Joe for sharing his 2nd red of the dinner at Mini Tanker, with this having been bottle breathed for over 3 hours. A 100% Garnacha or Grenache, lovely!
2018 was a cool and rainy year, and this promotes a wine of fresh and elegant profile. It actually comes from different Garnacha vineyards in the village of La Figuera. Fermented with some full clusters and some destemmed grapes with natural yeasts and matured in two used 4,500-liter oak foudres for 18 months.
Clos Mogador is a wine estate in Gratallops in the Priorat appellation of Catalonia, particularly known for its red wines focusing on Grenache and Carignan. The estate was founded in 1979 by Catalan-Frenchman René Barbier.
In the early 2000s, René Barbier started experimenting with wine-making in the village of La Figuera (70 unhabitants). We met some winemakers and we vinified around 4.000 kilos of Garnacha vines.
And, in 2002 he discovered the centennial vineyard that belonged to Mr. Joan Anguera (today it’s the Spectacle vineyard) and they started to promote that area so exceptionally good for Garnachas with the collaboration of the winemakers of the area.
I love the label and name - The idea of the name Com Tu was his son’s, Anderson Barbier Meyer, an artist that together with his mother, came up with this beautiful label.
Sweetish nose which evolves to some spice and creamy notes too. Juicy red fruit palate, still very fresh. Hints of citrus on the mid-palate and medium length finish.
Medium++ acidity, high alcohol, and soft tannins bring this all together.

Cocoa and cream on the nose. Ripe and rich; this is all fruit. I get maraschino cherries; a Shirley Temple transformed into red wine. Floral notes come out later with oxygen. A bit sweet for me but I liked it nonetheless. Poor value at $50; I would get another bottle if it were half that.

Popped and poured at Bar Canete in Barcelona. Tight at first, but quickly opens with bright red fruit. The Grenache delivers! This needs several more years to develop, but tasty now.

Nice wine... but definitely not worth the money they charged for it in wine route 😞
Nice bright red ruby color 👏
Medium minus body. Medium acidity. soft but still felt tanines, nice structure 👏
Not aromatic. At all. I tried so hard... not a thing 👎👎👎👎
Nice on the palate. Mixture of red and black fruits, pepper, cinnamon, anise, oak, vanilla and terroir.
Nice wine, but definitely not worth 175, Israeli new shekels (45€) 🥺👎

3 Winos and a Providore Trade tasting (The four seasons hotel, the rocks, sydney): Slightly baked red berry, savoury rocky minerality, tight, drying, grippy, chalky mineral tannins married to the slightly baked red fruits. Hmm.
