Nose of mirabelle plum, pear and cooked apple. 100% chardonnay is not obvious!
Mouth with a controlled oxidative touch. I thought it was going to be a little too young, but although the juice was a little compact, the wine expressed itself well. Emmanuel Lassaigne is one of my current favorite winegrowers in Champagne. The wine is well structured, with lactic notes of pear and ginger. The wine has a cider side. Beautiful liveliness on a well-integrated acidic framework. Finale on mirabelle plum, almost vinous, which is surprising for a BdB, good length.
Very good wine, surprising as usual with Emmanuel Lassaigne.

Beat the Dom Perignon 2012 (Medlar, London SW10): Single blind. Slightly darker gold. Not most expressive nose although some baked apple and oxidative notes. Medium to med / full with pears and saline notes which after some time in the glass seemed to meander towards sourness with some acetone notes. I initially 91 / 100 but in the end, not sure if the bottle wqs quite right. From Jancis glass.

Double blind. Gold colour. Gorgeous nose of spices and wild flowers. Weird, sour/lactic note on the palate that developed into old furniture polish. Good length/material here but spoiled for me by the weird chemical notes. Would like to try another bottle as this had good potential.
I wrongly guessed this as the Egly and certainly didn’t have it as a bdb.

Beat the DP 2012? (Medlar, Chelsea): Mid straw. Much more mature than the wine we'd had before. Not obviously a BdB. Oxidative in style; on the nose there were various lactic notes and some savoury spice, and the palate was dominated by apple juice, with some flecks of plum and ginger. Fanned out with air and felt very grown up.
Guessed Egly, given the oxidative nature of the wine, but turned out to be the ringer (and I preferred it this time to when I tried the same wine back in December, although notes were fairly consistent, I think because it's better with food than as an aperitif). My #5 wine tonight.

Book Release Wine Dinner-“The New French Wine” (The Morris, San Francisco): Unknown disgorgement date. Unpleasant aromas-reduction, aggressively herbal, and some soil. Light, lively, and mineral in the mouth, but it comes across as sharp and jagged. I did not care for this at all.
