Nebbiolos, white truffles, Volume III (Chicago, IL): Couldn't really figure this one out. The nose was really messed up here -- now and again, I picked up whiffs of wet cardboard, making me think it was corked, but there was a hint of something that was akin to fermented garbage (not quite that unpleasant but getting there). The palate, however, was brilliant, with beautiful red fruit and a lighter disposition.

A 1974 Castello di Nieve Barbareso ‘Santo Stefano’ was in remarkable condition. It was so bright with red berry fruits pinging around nostrils and gums. It was really floral, with an ethereal perfume. It’s a little bit tart. It’s a little bit mineral. It’s a lot bit shit hot. There was a strand of licorice weaving through the flavor profile and it had a gentle suggestion of truffle and cedar.

without hesitation the best Barbaresco I had this year. Slow ox'd for 4 hours, fully ready with still great back bone, this wine is it's peak and will be there for the foreseeable future. Perfect with NuWaved lamb chops. Too bad this was the last bottle from Chambers :( I'd buy this one again and again and again.
