The white rose among the red roses on NZ Burgundian Wine Night… smooth and cultured, minerality according to LJ almost like a Puligny overnight. The full line-up on 25 Nov, my home.
1. 2018 Sato Pinot Noir L’Insolite 2. 2020 Pyramid Valley Field of Fire Chardonnay 3. 2015 Bell Hill Pinot Noir (LJ) 4. 2009 Rippon Emma’s Block Pinot Noir (LJ)

Pyramid Valley tasting at 67PM with Steve Smith MW. Drank in Zalto Universal. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of zesty lemon-lime, freshly cut pasture/hay, yellow flowers, rocks and stones mineral background. Developing. On the palate, dry, very high salivating acidity, medium alcohol (14%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of very salty stones minerality, racy zesty citrus lemon-lime. Very long salty finish with rapier-like precision. Excellent quality. My type of Chard. More about minerality and precision than showy fruit. Good things for sure with more age.
