Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Natural, unfined, unfiltered, 100+ year-old-vine, old school Cannonau. Med+ to deep ruby. Complex, intense, overripe red cherry, stewed plum, Mediterranean scrub. Aged 57 mos. in concrete and glass. Dry. It seems off-dry, but how could there be any RS with 17% abv? (the alcohol actually doesn't seem quite that high). Med acidity and tannin. Full bodied, with med+ flavor intensity and length, it has a very rich and creamy mouthfeel. It actually reminded me of a Banyuls and would pair well with cheeses or a chocolate dessert. The back label warns that "every bottle can be different," so expect bottle variation.
