This wine was good. Definitely needs air to start but surprising peaked on Day 2. It was clear light red in the glass.. not big or bold. Not a stereotypical Zin for me so it was a pleasant change. A little spiciness on the tail end, crisp bright flavors of herbs/spices, fruits. While Cam notes full bodied, I would say more medium/light body. This was pleasant enough to drink- I preferred it more with food than without. However, it's not a re-buy for me.

If you are looking for a classic jammy or brambly Zin experience, this is not it. If I had tasted blind, I would have thought it was a Pinot. Translucent ruby in the glass, bright acidity, prominent cherry. The only thing I pick up pointing to a Zin is a spicy element on the back end. I don't typically do much de Negoce sleuthing but the storyline of ancient Zinfandel vines planted in the 1800s on one of the Santa Catalina Islands mirrors Rusack's Zin story. Wine Enthusiast (Matt Kettmann) review (92 score) of the 2018 Rusack Zin: "This bottling comes from cuttings of century-old vines on Santa Cruz Island, and they make a lively style of Zinfandel in this appellation's moderate climate. Lighter in the glass, the wine shows aromas of both snappy-fresh red fruit and dried cherry, with woodspice as warmth. The palate's strawberry and cranberry flavors are cut by vivid acidity and ample baking spice." This is spot on with my N.368 experience and at $11 it's a no brainer.

Definitely not there yet. Uninteresting and disjointed. Will lay the rest of them down for a while.

Raw and overly sweet. Maybe it will come together or maybe it's not my style

Mostly opaque deep cherry color, some fruit on the nose, medium body, hints of cherry on palate, nice acidity level, fruit on the finish
