Lots of flavors and aromas jumping out. Strawberries, spice, pepper, soy, and raw beef on the nose, with jammy red and black fruit, strawberries, dark cherries , cedar, raspberry and earthiness flowing across the palate to a long, full finish. Rich, robust, full bodied, juicy, for zin lovers this is a real bargain.

Maybe I got a bad bottle. This was overwhelmingly sweet - nothing but strawberry and blackberry jam. No length, nothing at all memorable. Will give it another try down the road given all other ratings.

This was one of the first American wines I had after moving to the US. I knew Zinfandel was the same grape as Primitivo, “old vine” sounded fancy, and the label was cute. I picked up a bottle and thought wow, American wines could be this great for this little money! Unfortunately, I was to be fairly discouraged in my search for affordable (under $15) yet delicious wines here, so I had to start spending more. However, I have this wine once a year and it keeps rewarding me. It’s a great bargain unless it’s really not your taste.
Beautiful nose of smoke and spices with red and slightly jammed fruit coming through. Cigar, peat, pepper, clove, vanilla. There is, unfortunately, a slight alcohol burn. Cherry jam and stewed plum. On the palate, the fruit comes into the forefront with strawberry and dark cherry, maybe a little jam. The tobacco smoke comes back on the finish. I think this smoky note is more prominent than it was a year ago so maybe it’s going to overpower the wine with age. You aren’t supposed to age it anyway though…
I assume that if you hate New World wines this is just going to make you hate them more but, man, this is delicious if you enjoy this style!

Very perfumed and strong on the nose!
Spicy!! Smokey, almost peaty. Would go well with Asian? Rock. Pepper. Very unique. Very marmite!
