2020 Burgundies III: reds from Mongeard-Mugneret: bright ruby in the glass and with medium body. expressive nose of red fruit with coriander, cinnamon and earthy accents and perfumed whiffs of rose petals. less expressive in the mouth at the moment, the fruit uncoils in the mid palate with an enjoyable acidic brightness leavened by earthy and spicy accents. firm but smooth tannins and moderate plus persistence.
still a bit tight and will need a couple of years to blossom but has the stuff to go some distance and potential to improve.
14% AbV; from ~40y.o. vines; 5-10% new oak

Burgundy tastings at K&L; 6/16/2023-6/17/2023 (K&L Wine Merchant - RWC & SF): The nose has something of cotton candy made outta actual red fruit instead of sugar granules, minus any of the overly sweet and sugary notes. Additional dark red fruits with a hint of pink, buoyant red and white flowers, and dry earth.
The flavors are similar to the nose, but slightly more brighter on the palate, leaning more towards cranberry. Lean profile with some bright fruits.

Medium-light ruby red in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, currants & strawberries with overtones of floral & spice notes, somewhat earthy/dusty, minerals, herbs & a slight hint of sous-bois. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, strawberries & pomegranate with herbs, mushrooms, spices & minerals. Drinks quite well with extended airing although it appears it will benefit and develop further with additional aging.
