This is pretty interesting. The color actually looks like a dark red wine. Brown but with red in it. Nutty, caramel, fig. Very sweet, but there is some acid here, too.

SLDS June 2018: Caramel, cherry, quince, cumquat and lychee. Good acid lends it freshness despite otherwise being very sweet, bouncing through the mid-palate. Great length. Lovely and delicious.

Blowout at Formento's (Chicago, IL): From half bottle. Wow. What the heck. What is this I can't even. The colour on this is actually pretty disgusting. It's darker than a hundred-year-old Madeira. But the nose on this. Botrytis, fruit, florals, this reminds me a lot of those Mueller-Catoir Cronenberg rieslings. It really kind of is. One of those wines where descriptors fail. It's just a silly, massive blob of a riesling, and yet in perfect balance.

very dark in color, almost black. cloudy. this is cloyingly sweet, and unpleasant to drink. it's forced sweet like cough syrup. it lacks the nuance or acidity of aged german riesling.

Chicago Rotating Wine Dinner Series - July 2013 (Chris' House - Highland Park, IL): Sweet and tangy nose with maple syrup, apricot, brown sugar, and white floral notes. The palate was a bit more balanced than I was expecting with some nice acidity towards the end.
