  • Very pale yellow. A youthfully tight but still detailed and seemingly immaculate nose offers aromas of just ripe, super crisp green apple, riper and softer Anjour pear, salty preserved lemon, dried white flowers, toast, and wet gravel. On the palate this is just a bit more than medium bodied with medium+ acidity, a touch of phenolic grip, and a deceptively airy texture that dissolves into a finish full of fleshy orchard fruits and minerals. This is archetypal white Burgundy and incredibly good; is it worth the almost 150% price increase this wine has taken in the last four or five years? That's tough to say, but in a world of just okay Grand Cru whites, this could possibly be thought of as a relative value.

  • This is much more muted than the Puligny Hameau de Blagny from a few weeks back, but has great freshness to go with density and underlying mineral structure. Given my past experience with this wine and how the Puligny showed, I expect it to be outstanding with just a little more time to come together. I'll probably try another bottle sometime in the next year without a lot of other wines to get a better read.
