This wine was super enjoyable. opened about 90 minutes before starting to taste and it was still opening up and hitting its stride as we finished the bottle several hours later. its definitely in secondary characteristics with some great leather and woody notes but plenty of fruit in support. well stored bottle with some luck should give a great experience for years still

Quite meaty at first but really gets going after an hour or two in the decanter. There are notes of leather, game, spice and tar. It is sweet and vinous and develops some floral nuance. It is rich and full with some chewy tannins just evident on the finish. In a perfect place right now.

Had an odd swimming pool nose. But showed a power punch of dark fruit. Could use at least 10 years

Annual Piemonte Trip - 2018 Edition; 10/12/2018-10/14/2018 (Piemonte, Italy): Corked, annoyingly so and the last bottle in the excellent cellar of Ciau del Tornavento. Even more painful due to the fact the 1996 we had just before was an excellent wine (Papies 95)

Aged well. Still a few years in these. Lovely sweet fruit, some mineral/leather tones.
