  • During a MOT masterclass by Stephan Reinhardt to celebrate the first Swiss 100 point wine by Marie-Thérèse Chappaz who was in the room. Chappaz has been doing things differently in bulk wine Canton Valais and pushing quality and boundaries. It was great to see he succeed with the scores as well. As she explained, Marsanne is one of her favorite grapes. It makes a wine of texture and not acidity, elegant, aromatic floral. TN: This was thrown into the mix for Stephan Reinhardt as it is his birth year. How generous! Excellent showing, tertiary notes of mushroom, tobacco, like a Huet CHenin Moelleux. Wonderfully complex with good freshness still.

  • Masterclass with Stephan Reinhardt and Marie Therese Chappaz (The Dolder Grand, Zurich): Glass: Stölzle Universal
Bottle straight out of the winery cellar, never changed its location. Beautiful clear, deep golden color. No difference from the 2002 and 2013 vintages. Nose with lots of acidity, reminding me of a great Riesling TBA.
On the palate sweet, extremely fresh, no signs of this age. Very complex, TBA style, zests, orange notes, spicy. High acidity, perfectly integrated. What a beautiful wine! This is like a wonderful combination of the best Riesling TBA with a great Sauternes. So young, such a length. Immortal and impressive. 95-97
