Visits in the Wachau and Kamptal; 10/4/2023-10/5/2023 (In and around the Wachau and Kamptal, Lower Austria): This is riesling that goes to 11! There is a lot of intensity at the moment as the tones of white peaches, papaya, lemon peels, white fruits, crushed rocks, elderflower, saline, jasmine, and green apples are all fighting for attention. There is a ton of depth here that makes you keep going back to the glass time and time again. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and fresh with crisp, high acidity that is all backed up by an extremely lengthy finish. This is a baby that really need at least a few years to fully settle into itself. There is a ton to like though as it shows all of the hallmarks of a great Riesling right now. This was a real treat and a great way to end a wonderful visit at Hirtzberger.
