A wine that evokes emotion. You know you are in the presence of greatness and can only marvel at how something can taste so perfect. I have been lucky to have tasted Romanée-Conti on several occasions from barrel, but I can’t ever remember one being better than this ’22. The nose simply draws you in. Rose petals, violets, peonies, cheery and sandalwood. So complex, so engaging. The palate has the perfect interplay between sweet fruit flavours and spicy/savoury nuance. Tannins simply occupy a space, and the wine seems to glide over the mouth, leaving a wondrous calling card. The finish is incredibly pure and direct and fans out, lingering for minutes.
