Cathy was one of only a few that could truly say the grapes were harvested before the Glas Fire broke out and covered the valley in smoke. As a result, this wine shows no signs of smoke damage, and the efforts Cathy and team went to to protect the winery from air quality issues were successful. Compared to 2019 and 2018, the 2020 Corison Napa is a bit more approachable right out of the gate, but still delicious and classic Napa in style, true to Cathy’s goal. The structure is noticeably less than prior top vintages, so this may not be the one to go twenty years, but I have no doubt it’ll go ten with ease, and improve all along the way. Making me think about 2011… don’t let the critics get to you. There’s a lovely wine here.

I agree with the prior note. This is clearly the Corison style but just amped up a little more. Velvety/plush mouthfeel with less tannin and acid than anticipated. Ripe dark fruit, milk chocolate, herbs and anise. No sign of smoke taint. Drink now or hold.
