  • 13.5% abv. Medium dark ruby, very expressive aromas. Striking and very pure red raspberry on the palate, supplemented with a bit of spearmint and menthol. Beautifully integrated, long, penetrating and deep. A singular expression of Zinfandel that is drinking spectacularly right now and shows no serious signs of aging. A treat!

  • 2012 Sky Vineyards Zinfandel, Old Vine 'St. George'. The first wine made solely from the four rows of 50-year old vines that have survived the unthinkable (fires, droughts, etc). Well, to say that this wine is 'unique' is a massive understatement. I was excited to try this wine but was also worried that it would be kinda young (I like some age on most of my wines). Welp....I needn't have worried, ha! Because if I was drinking this blind, I would have clocked it as a 15-20 year old wine....which is a good thing! Its all aged raspberry and spice on the palate, but it is INCREDIBLY integrated and comes across as light/medium bodied. Literally not a tannin or a trace of oak to be found. But acidity? Absolutely. And loads of it! Those that are looking for a big, brusing, mountain Zinfandel should look elsewhere, because this DEFINITELY ain't that. A super compelling and wildly interesting wine that I am loving....and can't stop sipping. Just ordered a couple more bottles. Get em while you can folks....assuming you dig this style.
