I’m just not sure I get these wines — maybe I’ve had them all way too young, but that said this is the most I’ve enjoyed a Falkenstein wine: fleshy red fruit (or starburst) and plenty of acidity. Needs at least 30 min of air, and some rich food for balance.

Serviceable rose but I didn’t care for it. With two hours open the nose showed a floral aspect but also a strange almost talc like powdery scent. Just not terribly enticing on the nose, and the palate showed two dimensional. Maybe I shouldn’t compare to Bandol because it’s a different animal. But it’s priced more than Pradeaux and the same as Terrebrune, and it’s not in the same league as a wine.

Agreed with other note, this is tons of fresh strawberry and raspberry, on a layer of minerality. Less high lemon acid than 2021 although some tartness peeks through, this is in a more approachable spot right now and is so delicious.

Brief notes from second day. All strawberry, stones and minerals, and that Falkenstein acidity in the finish. Fresh and bright even on day two. Importer notes say this is from vines that were thought to be Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir), but which the German government has now decided have mutated too much to legally be called Spatburgunder. Regardless of variety this is still one delicious rose.
