I brough this blind to get an unbiased opinon on what I feel is a delicious and cheap ($20) sparkling Chenin Blanc. Got some guesses on sparkling sav blanc and prosecco. Initally throws off some graham cracker and lemon notes, razor dry and tongue scraping on entry, yet turning slightly sweet on the back side. In time, the profile becomes airy and fluffy, lemon meringue if you will.

Dark gold/caramel color, you get loads of caramelly nougat, oyster shell, and other oceany scents. Mineral driven, precise and dry as a bone. Lots of pear and caramel dipped apple. This bottle is a steal and much more complex/interesting than any other $20 bubbly I've ever tasted, I'd highly recommend it to bubbleheads looking to stock up for the summer on the cheap. Turns out you might be analyzing it like me instead of gulping it down.

definitely an old wine. deep golden color with orange notes. smells of clementine cake and honey and quinine. almost no mousse, light bubbles. this is quite tasty, but it is not typical sparkiling wine and would not be used as a substitute for one. not at all sweet though - a non dosage wine.
