Leaving DC Dinner (Ripple - Cleveland Park, Washington, D.C.): Beautiful tones of lychee, apricot and peach on the nose with subtle hints of petrol. The palate remains fresh and elegant with layered tones of fresh linen, white peach, lychee, and smoked minerals. The finish had nice acidity and good length.

Thursday Upper East Side BYO (Afghan Kebab House II, NYC): Light lemon color. Grassy nose, with elements of hay, herbs, wildflowers and ripe white fruit, with a squeeze of grapefruit. Full bodied on the palate, off dry with a medium finish. This was better on the nose than the palate.

Very young in the glass... light color with only hints of golden yellow. Slight pencil eraser on the nose with tropical fruits. Decent palate and finish, but would have never guessed that this wine was 19 years old. Tasted blind, would probably have thought I was drinking a 5 year old kabinett. Solid wine, but nothing spectacular.

August 2008 at Bud Starr's St. Louis Tasting (Bud Starr's -- Clayton, Missouri): How fresh and lacy this is. Some diesel still, along with citrus blossom. Some apple and a bit of tension remaining on the palate. Doctor Richter pointed out the blackberry / black currant note to the wine, which he noted was typical of this hot vintage. A very nice start.

Beautiful aged Riesling. Taught acidity, fruit leaning towards lemon and lychee, and fine minerality. Much improved uncorked in the fridge overnight.
