Aromatic, high-toned mature nose of forest floor, coffee, minerals, airy cherry fruit. Quite intense on the palate, lots of acidity, almost austere but ripe blueberry fruit is hanging in there. This is sort of impressive and in a good place in terms of maturity but it’s lacking charm.

nose - toasty mouth - ripe red cherry fruit, riper than the '06 Bertheau anyway. a tad confected and non-descript. I think Bertheau did a better job in this vintage.

Birthday Celebration (Chicago, IL): Open at 12, tasted around 2:30 and again at 4:30. Complex assortment of red, black and blue berries with sweet spice, espresso and dark chocolate. Very rich and balanced right now, with moderate structure in the background. I think this is at its absolute peak right now.
