This wine is ready to drink with just a decant to remove sediment. Although I don’t know the “Amoureuses” nuances; this wine had a wonderful; oriental spice/sandalwood aroma I associate with Echezeaux or Vosne-Romanee. Enough Tertiary is to say “drink me”. Kinda seductive as an older temptress; yet some earth and cherry/Pinot to remind you of it’s breeding. The flavor was so elegant and velvety. Yet; enough concentration to not be considered too light. All the aroma elements were there on the palate. This is a wine not for Ripe, fruit forward RRV Pinot fanatics. For those who seek sublime and complexity not hitting you over the head. Drink now. I think it’s at it’s apogee (like a lot of 2001 Burgundies and Bordeaux’s). 2001 is a classic vintage; with some Old World nostalgia and not for those who seek bolder, riper wines; which they define as quality/hedonism.

This bottle had some volatile acidity hanging around but underneath that was a deeply floral and perfumed nose of red and blue fruit. Less earth influenced than the ‘01 Lignier Morey St. Denis 1er alongside, but definitely had a look at that silky Chambolle expressiveness. Palate youthful and defined red and blue berry. Very pretty, also strong.

Les Amoureuses Dinner (Imperial Treasure Teochew, Ion): Fourth time out with a bottle of this wine, and it was bang back on form. Absolutely beautiful. The nose was a melting melange of earth, perfumy florals and sweet red fruits, ringed with a little halo of spice - so alluring. The palate was soft and melting, with silky tannins and soft but fresh acidity coating wonderfully clear, transparent flavours of dark cherries, all gently infused with a bit of spice and earth and florals. Mouthfilling perfume I wrote. A soft, alluring, perfectly poised wine, full of transparency and liveliness. Strong, yet weightless. A beautiful Chambolle, drinking quite at peak - the best of a strong trio of Groffier Amoureuse, and by some distance the wine of the night amidst a very strong field. I was in love with this one.

Alluring rendition of Amoureuses that is close to peak. Ample spice and blue fruit, silky mouthfeel, this is incredibly easy to drink.

Mature, rose petal nose, medium bodied, cherries and strawberry, tannins well integrated, very long and satisfying finish. Great bottle of wine.
