Fine, youngish ’weekday’ high-altitude monastrell f Valencia & Los Frailes (v21, 14.5% ABV) - first encounter w this producer - showing fresh, piercing black fruit aromas & a splendid velvety nature. Adorable in appearance - ruby/cherry, translucent w a darkish core. Nose sings w scents of blackberries, toasted/roasted notes, wild herbs, quite balsamic. Palate - superbly & surprisingly fresh, smooth w polymerized tannins, straightforward, no signs of alcohol or oak, brief, non-complex, juicy & iron-driven close.
