  • A bit over the hill but still a super nice glass of wine - se my note from 2015. Should have drunk it back in 2015-2016. Have lost lots of its fruits and a bit "flat". Drink now and no decanting.

  • Earthy and forest floor. Rich fruit and savory sauce.

  • Vino sùper fantàstico. Decanted for 2 houers and had it with grilled steak, potatoes, sauce bernaise and green vegs. Color close to black. Very powerfull non filtered wine, rich, full body - very long finish and all very well integratet. Nose and palate ... plenty of black fruits, bleckberries, little very little liquorice, woody, eathy and dusty.Medium acid well balanced. Plenty of tannins well integrated. A great wine in full harmony ready to drink or keep in cellar next 3-5 years. Top $ enjoy OT

  • This surprised me in how youthfull it is and is certainly quite an outstanding wine! Rich, full bodied and almost a little dense but certainly maintains a great balance. Tannins are super smooth and seems fully resolved. Still quite some primary black fruit notes showing and woodsmoke, vanilla, espresso roast. Also some treebark kind of note, plus pine needles and cloves. Alcohol is showing a little and a small hint of liquorice detracts. Overall a great wine.

  • This is definitely a sophisticated wine. It is now a decade old and may be at its peak. I was worried for the hot vintage (2003), but it in some wines, this seems to be a bonus and they do hold up. Straight out of the bottle came a medium bodied, smooth, yet tight beam of tannins with fine grained dusty mouthfeel and a very focussed beam of blackberry cassis. I decanted half the bottle and it is slow to open but very enjoyable in its integrity. An hour and a half later, it is still displaying a good amount of tannin well integrated with the alcohol and dark, black fruit. I had with a steak and it was a fine pairing. Next up, chocolate New York style cheesecake. I think that will knock it out of the park. A wine of power held tightly together in perfect balance and elegance.

Rockss and Fruit

  • By Lyle Fass

(Vinas de la Vega del Duero "Quinta Sardonia") This is very interesting wine. Very minerally stuff. And I mean very minerally. I hope I have this right. Peter Sisseck project in the Sardon del Duero with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot,Tempranillo and maybe something else. Despite all these grapes the wine comes across as mineral. There is a alot of dark black fruits too. This is obviously polished and modern but retains a sense of restraint and great freshness. The acidity really sings against the black fruits and mineral while being wrapped in a shroud of elegance. As this aerated it became better integrated and was just a fantastic example of a modern wine brought on by an old-world mentality. There is a certain type of mouthfeel and richness that I identify with modern wines but there is also a sense of place and character that comes with the intense minerality and great acidity. Great stuff.
