Opened 2 hours before drinking. Clear light ruby. This wine confused the hell out of me compared to a much more straightforward, high quality bottle about a year ago. What is definitely has are a gorgeous, sappy feel, rich black cherry fruit, and excellent acidity for the year. I went back and forth about whether it was corked versus just having the dry earthiness and funk that Lafarge wines sometimes have. In the end, I am coming down on the side of lower level TCA, but most of the bottle will sit overnight to see which way it goes.
I was dead wrong about this last night. After 24 hours in the recorked bottle, no hint of taint at all. The fruit is even sappier, there is more cool mintiness, and the underlying minerality and drying tannins are much more obvious. Glad I didn't give up on it and pour it down the drain!

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting, in 12/11/09 vertical. Clearly very ripe and rich, but also clearly maintaining the acidity to be bright and very fresh. Floral hints and lots of spice provide good support with complex hints in the near background. Also just barely entering its peak drinking window, this will have a great, long life.

Austere and well-structured for an '09, this requires significant time to develop.

The Verticals Tasting at 2020 La Paulée de New York (Eventi Hotel, New York): Clearly riper than the the 2012, but still excellent acidity and sense of lightness with a lovely soil finish. I got much more from these Lafarge wines than I have on other occasions.
