  • Wow, very impressive! I've been holding this in the cellar since late 2007, wanted to drink it while it was still within the suggested drinking window. I'm glad I waited as this is drinking perfectly at peak. Opened and let it sit for 30 minutes, then poured into a couple of large Riedel Burgundy glasses for another 20 minutes. Intoxicating nose of strawberry and raspberry preserves, fruit infused herbal tea, and baking spices, with some subtle but very noticeable earthiness that becomes more prevalent as it sits. Very smooth, velvety, and balanced; it's hard to not want to keep sipping on it. Finish lasts for minutes. I could use superlative after superlative to try to describe this wine. Although I hesitate to compare this to a Burgundy, I would only say that if the US had a classification system this could easily fall into a Grand Cru designation and receive extraordinary grades. IMHO one of the creme de cremes of US Pinot Noirs. I haven't sampled a bottle of Ken Wright Pinot Noir that I haven't found to be outstanding! I wish I had bought more than a single bottle of this....

  • (at Roy's Oahu - no formal notes) -- certainly better than the food, though not as impressive as other bottles of Ken's in '04. This was a bit to much for me, with a blueberry flavor profile. (14.5)
