Drinking this almost 11 years to the day after my 1st bottle. Much improved vs my earlier note. Orangeish tawny color, initially a touch of sherry/port aroma, that was not on the palate, and eventually blew off. Earthy, higher toned, yet faded red fruit and herbs, and pretty pronounced tannins still. No alcohol heat, and not disjointed in contrast to my earlier note from Sept. 2011. Enjoyed this quite a bit surprisingly, and a good value at $24 all these years later.

Medium orangey-garnet color. Fascinating nose. Very developed, with almost no fruit left. Extremely spicy and floral and earthy. There’s a slight vermouth character that worries me a bit, but hopefully it’s not completely oxidized and past it. It’s sort of a sweet and funky blend of fresh flowers and mushrooms and potpourri and underbrush. On the palate, still very tannic. But there is also still a bit of sour cherry fruit. The spiciness and floral notes are there too. But honestly this wine never really comes together. The tannins haven’t melted, and the developed flavors and the fruit haven’t integrated. Don’t see it improving with more time.

Shows its age on the nose with autumn leaves and cherry compote. The mouth has classic kirsch flavors, with loads of pepper and Asian spices. A good finish. Drink in the near term.

Bang on with 2014 note. I enjoy this style of CdP with this amount of age on it. Good stuff, and what a value (looks like I paid $25?!).

Rich, lush, mouth-filling, yet totally balanced. Kirsch, blackberry, spice and mocha flavors with ample ripe tannins. Could barely stop tasting it.
