Just opened it from my temp controlled cellar storage. Lovely. Wonderful nose of cassis, oak, vanilla. Lovely fruit, oak, integrated tannins. Nice acid - worked well with a steak. When I compare with other cellartracker notes from this and other wines, I conclude that storage does make a difference as many describe its over the hill. Yet from my wine tasying, this still could last another several years. It was the type of wine I couldnt stop drinking, which to me defines a break point in tasting wines - it was that tasty!

Interesting to follow having drank through a few cases of this over 5 years. The nose is rather funky, and while a good bit blew off with a few minutes in the glass, it still shows. Decently advanced, the fruit has tamed while the leathery, earthy notes show through. Stilli rather dense, it has a firm acid backbone and gritty tannins leave a decently long finish. Fun wine and a heck of a deal for the $16 tariff.

Decanted for about two hours then accompanied chicken and morel marsala and sauteed spinach. Faded, slightly phenolic nose. Modestly tart fruit, light body with a bit of hibiscus and pepper zing around the tail end. Definitely past its prime, leaving little to like. Drinks like a cheap Bordeaux. Drink up.

Probably a touch past its prime, but still good.
