Pours an opaque dark ruby in the glass with thinning edges but no bricking. PnP, and did this ever quickly develop in a stemless glass. Cherry, dark cherry, red alpine currant, definite forest floor, and tar on offer. Initially dull but within 10 minutes really exploded with air! Very good intensity when paired with Osso Buco, with good concentration and acidity. There might be some proverbial bottle variation, but this is our first one and it is really rocking with this pairing.

no decant. drunk 2 hours after opening for dinner (beef goulash and potato gratin)
nose: ripe cherry notes including black fruits(plums), leather, earth
palate: surprisingly still high acidity and rest of bitter tannin. not very balanced and structured. overlaids the fruits of plums, cherry. again some leather and earth. also some tobacco and chocolate.
final: short and nothing special
quality/conclusion: good, but paid well too much for the quality. i have one bottle left but no upside potential left in opinion. even tough the year 2005 is highly prised i do not agree up this moment…

From Magnum. No decant- poured at a gathering of wine lovers for a friend's 50th Bday party. Pouring into glass, the aromas of Merlot emanate from bottle and glass. Medium to dark ruby in glass and slight Right Bank funk. Silky smooth, with great length and grippy tannins. This wine could go another 5-7 years easily in magnum. Enjoyed by all at the party.

From magnum. A Delicious and well balanced St. Emilion GC, layered with classic Bordeaux flavors, marred only by a relatively short finish. Just short of excellent.

Magnum.
Classic St. Emilion. Plums, leather, florals, earth and toast.
Soft yet sturdy.
