  • This has matured into a top class Bordeaux, and makes a mockery of its slaughter by the critics on release. I would advise to pop and pour with the wine, or at the very least, 30 minutes in the decanter. As mentioned in my previous note, the Cabernet Franc is really strutting itelf with prominent bell pepper notes with red cherry and cedar, and really reminds me of Cheval Blanc, in spite of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is exceptional and deeply aromatic, and undoubtedly is the best feature. However, the rest of the experience is tremendous, with a lighter finish preventing a higher rating. 95+

  • My favorite of my wine club's recent tasting of 2000 Bordeaux. Beat out the likes of Palmer and Leoville Las Cases. Wonderful forthcoming nose. Cab Franc perhaps a little obvious with it's vegetal character. Drinking at peak and open for business.

  • Brambly fruit and strawberries on the nose, with quite a rich attack of the same, very winsome and initially very impressive, but that's it. It never really got out of second gear. Some have bemoaned a certain greenness, but for me, if anything the opposite was true. I could have done with more crispness, a fresher middle section and, well, less jammy flavours. Fine with food, but on its own, it was just not very interesting and a bit stodgy. 92 points for the lovely start.

  • Opened and let air in glass. This was in really nice shape, but I sensed it is best to drink between now and 2028/29. We did not decant, and in retrospect it might have been even better if we had.
