2022 Port Harvest Tour; 9/22/2022-10/2/2022 (Porto, Portugal): Cask sample. Discovered 12 years ago and believed to be around 200 years old, this Tawny Port showcases unreal viscosity. It is like pouring motor oil into your glass. It is the color of dark molasses with slight yellowing on the edges. The nose is dominated by vinegrenio, pickle brine, saline, citrus, and maple. On the palate, there is amazing intensity with lime, lemon, caramel, soy sauce, and that crazy viscosity. The exceptionally long finish has bright acidity, rich texture, and incredible complexity. Wow!
