Sometimes called the "King of the Beaujolais," this is perhaps the best the region and the Gamay grape have to offer, but it is not built for long aging. '06 was a fairly good, but not great, year in Burgundy, so don't wait too long. A very good representative wine for the Gamay. And for the price, it's really a no-brainer. This wine is very typical for the varietal. It explodes with a lot of lush, red fruit up front: raspberries, cherries, etc. It is light-bodied with medium tannin, although the tannins did firm up a bit on the 2nd & 3rd nights. It has a nice balance of elegant oak with the acidity as well. I enjoyed this thoroughly.

Pretty good Beaujolais. Simple red wine. A little bitter on a dusty finish, but reasonable red fruit for the vintage. Easy drinking if that's what you are looking for...AMM

Tasting Group Dinner w/ Alan Rath - Rieslings & Thai (True Thai, Minneapolis): Simple. Tart red cherry and herbs. A bit astringent, thin, and acidic. I like Dubœuf's Beaujolais, but this wasn't nearly as fun as previous vintages.
