  • Agreed. Really showing well. Tasted after Dom 95. My winner!
Full-body, golden color with honey and some butterscotch. Lovely older wine.

  • Really great showing for this wine. Nutty and complex, but more than ample acidity. It’s at peak to me, not standing to gain but more than enjoyable now.

  • No notes taken. This is slightly past peak but still drinking quite good. Very round and harmonious with fine mousse and a well-integrated medium+ acidity, it shows intense and expressive from the nose to the long finish displaying aromas of slightly dried berries, some fresher lemon aromas, some bakery notes and tiny hints of oxidation notes. I wouldn’t wait any longer if you have some bottles in your cellar as the oxidation notes might soon go from a feature (additional complexity) to a sign of demise. 92/93 pts today.

    Decanting: No decanting needed.

  • The aroma profile was notably aged and Sherry-like in style, but definitely in a good way. Fruit of candid fig and bruised pear, fine layer of spice, cane sugar and caramel. The palate was crispy and came across fresh owing the addition of lime juice. An intricate fizz that still manages to improve with aeration. Having had the 1996 a few week earlier my preference would be on 1996 for drinking today. That said, both appear at peak drinking window and I would cellar much longer. Have been consistently scoring this 93-95 since 2019.

  • Method: opened 30 minutes in advance; 51.5 degrees; Cab glass

    Look: medium gold; low bubbles

Nose: toasted buttered brioche, buttered croissant, honeysuckle, peach, yellow apple, cream

Palate: buttered brioche, nougat, yellow apple, green apple, toasted almond, baking spice; short finish of toasted almond; dry; medium amount of very fine bubbles, like fizz; medium acidity; medium body

Overall: Great, indulgent nose and primary/secondary flavors, but this lacked a bit of complexity and fell flat on the almost no existent finish, which prevented this wine from being truly excellent. Great wine!
