1st night opened, and I don't know if I was just in a gewurz mood, or what, but this just hit every note perfectly right on the get-go. One of the best gewurz's I've ever had - it was just spectacular and even better than previous 2 bottles. Phenomenal with tikka masala. Lost its vibrancy over 2 days in fridge, corked, but still quite yummy. What a terrific wine. Bonnie loved it, too. Have to search out some more from this producer and see if they are still making such wonderful wine. What a steal at auction for under $20.

Dark golden color due to age. Quite concentrated. Really powerful nose of honey, melon, and flowers. Palate a bit more subdued. Would have liked a little more acid on this.

Terrific gewürztraminer. Bought at auction 8 years ago and in my cellar since. Now just getting around to opening. I am, admittedly, a big fan of gewurztraminers in the ZH style. This is not quite as sweet, and has a bit more minerality and litheness relative to many of the ZH wines. One of those wines that screams sweet and yet has dryness on the palate. Classic gewurz lychee and tropical fruits. Rich, but not cloying. Hint of rosewater. just yum. I'd buy more of these if I could. This was a steal at less than $20 I paid.
Drinking really well. Stone fruits on the nose, a little reminding me of a Riesling. Honey and melon on the palate. Drinking well and has a long drinking window.

(J. Hofstatter Kolbenhof Gewurztraminer) #1; COLOR-great medium to dark golden; NOSE-amazing tropical nose; taking cut lychee, peach, guava and papaya, putting in microwave w/ melted butter on top; quite pretty; some floral action; a fantastic and tremendous nose; PALATE-great spiciness (jalapeno pepper); and a little cinnamon coming through on the mouthfeel; and a little tangerine on the back-end; gorgeous guava flavors; it's a very focused and intense white wine; a great quality wine; just delicious; this is SPECTACULAR and world class; one of the more interesting white wines I've had all year; this is epic; IWC-92; WS-90; GV-95
