  • (this was a VV bottling) decanted at 2pm, back in bottle at 4, had with dinner at 630... this was fantastic -- and a bit of a surprise... I find '06 to be a softer, less-inspiring vintage but this was fantastic, good nose but palate was awesome -- very tart red fruit, almost some lemon rind opposite some sweet red cherry / strawberry... what a great contrast / balancing act, also good acidity and some interesting spices to add to the mix... lastly the tannins were perfectly resolved but it wasn't without structure due to nice acidity... wow - I think the best '06 red burg I have ever had... looking fwd to the four '99 bottles I have downstairs... at its peak for sure but likely lasts 8-10 years at this level
